Lesson 62
Dar, Pedir, and Irregular Past Moves
Language Transfer Complete Spanish is by Mihalis Eleftheriou. Listen to the original audio first; use these notes for revision.
Dar is the only -ar verb that behaves like an -er/-ir verb in the preterite: di (I gave), dio (he gave), dimos (we gave). No accent marks on these!
When le + lo meet, le becomes se: Se lo di = I gave it to him. Se los di = I gave them to him. You can add a él or a ella to clarify: Se lo di a ella = I gave it to her.
Pedir = to ask for (e→i: pido — the e turns to i instead of splitting).
Vender = to sell. Vendí = I sold. Se lo vendí a él = I sold it to him.
