Lesson 90
Dialects, Vos, and Where to Go Next
Voseo: In Argentina, Uruguay, and parts of Central America, vos replaces tú with its own conjugation: vos hablás, vos comés, vos vivís. The stress moves to the end and the stem doesn't change (vos pensás, NOT piensás).
Course conclusion — key principles to carry forward
-
The course gave you the structural framework — now build through exposure.
-
Half the course was content; half was teaching you HOW to manage a new language.
-
Read, listen, speak. Analyze what you hear — catch verb endings in songs and movies.
-
Don't be afraid to make mistakes — experimentation is how you learn quickly.
-
The process of finding a word (working backwards, using hooks) matters MORE than just remembering it. Going through the process makes it stick.
-
If you want to have the complete panorama before you start speaking, you'll never start speaking. Be comfortable with uncertainty.
-
Listen actively to Spanish. Even if you only catch verb endings at first, that's the important bit.
